Born into a family of silversmiths, Sophie Bouilhet-Dumas honed her eye and her talents as an art director, notably for the English porcelain maker Thomas Goode. She also designed objects for Hermès, Burberry and Paul Smith. In 2018, she participated in the curatorship of the first retrospective devoted to Gio Ponti at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.
Through her desire to sublimate the forms naturally present in living nature, Sophie Bouilhet-Dumas embraces a philosophy that offers a nod to the Italian architect and designer. To the recurring question he asked himself throughout his career — "What can I make that is beautiful today?" — she would reply: to pay homage to nature.
